In this new role, John will lead the company’s global data and analytics initiatives. He has been with Aperio since 2021 and has played a defining role in developing the company’s analytics platform. John Dixon is a highly skilled artificial intelligence (AI) engineer, blending his expertise in data science, machine learning, AI, and big data analytics. He holds an undergraduate degree from Hampton University (1996), a Master’s Degree (1998), and Ph.D. (2004) from Michigan State University. John has continued to build upon his impressive research background since 1996, conducting multiple trials within image/video processing before transitioning into the likes of facial recognition from 2004 until now. As well as pioneering teams towards modernized systems utilizing ML principles, this accomplished professional also leads a group specializing in algorithm developments alongside cyber subject matter experts within analytic development programs too!

As a highly respected computer scientist, John has served as a technical expert and proposal reviewer for esteemed organizations such as the NIST Public Safety Innovation Accelerator Program (PSIAP) and IARPA’s Deep Intermodal Video Analytics (DIVA) program. His professional accomplishments have earned him multiple awards, including the GEM Outstanding Alumnus as Black Engineer of the Year in 2004 and recognition on his client’s research team in 2016—providing further evidence that he is an indispensable asset to our team.

In 2021, Aperio Global welcomed John as their senior AI engineer. His expertise and leadership contributions are propelling the company’s strategic growth, with solutions in large-scale data analytics and software applications powered by machine learning recommendation technologies at its forefront. As a part of the Research Council, John leads initiatives for natural language processing and image analysis to bolster internal projects—building innovative ML models that will shape Aperio’s future development.
